Common sales and marketing jobs and what you need
Sales representative (B2B)
Call, visit and email businesses, win new customers and look after existing ones.
You need: Comfort talking to strangers, a driver's licence for field roles, and numbers you can show (calls, deals, targets).
Customer service representative
Help customers by phone, chat and email; solve problems and keep them happy.
You need: Clear speaking and typing, patience, and basic computer skills. A common first job in Canada.
Marketing coordinator
Run social media, email campaigns, events and simple reports.
You need: Canva, social media tools, Excel and good writing. A few sample posts or campaigns help a lot.
Digital marketing / SEO
Grow website traffic and leads with ads, search and content.
You need: Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Ads. Free Google certificates are a good start.
Get these right and you get the call
- Numbers: "made 60 calls a day", "grew followers 40%", "closed $120,000 in a year". Numbers get interviews.
- Base pay plus commission is normal in sales. Ask what the base is and what most reps really earn.
- We skip commission-only and pyramid-style jobs. We only send you to jobs with real pay.
- For marketing, a small portfolio (three posts, one email, one report) beats a long list of duties.
- A clear, friendly phone voice matters. Practise your first 30 seconds out loud.
